Rabbi Ron Klotz

Director of Informal Jewish Education

Justin grew up in Westlake Village, CA and attended the University of Oregon. After graduating with a BS in Environmental Science with a Biology Minor, he is moving east to join the Indiana University Hillel family.

Justin loved the sense of community and tradition he gained from his chapter in BBYO and was excited to become an active member of the Oregon Hillel Foundation and to be a part of Greek life in college. While at Oregon, Justin was one of the three founding fathers that brought the Sigma Alpha Mu Fraternity chapter back to campus and served as Vice President of Communications at Hillel. Justin is very excited to work with all of the students to continue making Indiana University Hillel a home away from home. When he’s not working, you can find Justin listening to old records, watching superhero movies, reading comic books, or playing video games.

Mason joined the Indiana Hillel family last year and has loved it since day one! He earned his B.S. from Appalachian State University in Sustainable Development. Healthy living is of Mason's core values. Judaism resonates with Mason based on it's family-oriented, community-based, and earth-focused culture. Mason feels he has found a unique approach to Judaism and loves sharing this with others. In his free time, you'll find him playing guitar, exercising, hiking with his dog, cooking, painting or reading.

From 1963 to 1974 Rabbi Ron served the Olin-Sang-Ruby Union Institute in Oconomowoc, Wisconsin, as a counselor, specialist, unit head, and assistant director. Ron studied at the Hebrew Union College in Jerusalem and Cincinnati from 1972 through ordination in 1977, during which time he became Director of the URJ's Goldman Union Camp Institute (GUCI). After more than 30 years as Director, Rabbi Ron and his wife Juca have retired to Bloomington, where Ron has continued his commitment to Jewish education, health and safety, and building community.
